Former Safety (78-81) Jim Bob Harris joins us this week.  Jim Bob was part of the 1978, 1979 championship teams in which Harris will be part of the ‘78 National Championship reunion in Tuscaloosa this Saturday.  Harris talks about the importance of beating adversity as a team, the parallels between his ‘78 champ team and this years ‘08 team.  Harris also touches on the character of Coach Nick Saban & staff, and of course the upcoming game with Miss. State.

Pressure mounts as #1 Alabama clinches the SEC West and is staged for one of the most important SEC championship games in history, but it’s still payback time for a couple of old foes.  One down, two to go - Croom’s (I need more cowbell!) Bulldogs are up next for another “sweet revenge” November game on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. ESPN.

The opening song is brought to you by Jay Speight and former Bama 2004 Captain Todd bates! Check out the creative rap/country remix of “Ala-Freakin’ Bama” @ Alafreakinbama.com!

Have a great week!  ROLL FREAKIN’ TIDE!!!

Co-hosts - Ben & Larry

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Javier Arenas figures it’s time for No. 2 Alabama to stop living in the past.

The Crimson Tide cornerback isn’t talking about the rich football tradition of titles and wins that the fans hold so dear, but the more recent one of letdowns and breakdowns.

That’s just so 2007. Yes, Saturday’s opponent, Arkansas State, is an upset-minded Sun Belt Conference team just like Louisiana-Monroe was about this time last year. As far as Arenas is concerned, this ‘Bama team just isn’t nearly so susceptible to overlooking teams and treating such games with a yawn.

“We’re past that point, you know?” he said. “That letting up point and playing down to the competition. We’re past that point.”

Alabama (8-0) has moved on from that painful 21-14 loss to Louisiana-Monroe last season and the issues of discipline and effort that contributed to it. Now, a slip-up would bump the Tide from it’s lofty status as one of the top contenders in the national championship race.

Arkansas State (4-3) has gotten ‘Bama’s attention with an opening upset at Texas A&M and a subsequent 83-10 drubbing of Texas Southern.

“Any time you get a team that scores 83 points, it’s definitely some offense going on and players making plays, regardless of who they’re playing against,” Tide safety Rashad Johnson said. “There’s definitely a thought in the back of your mind that these guys can put up points. It’s going to be a good task for us.”

The Red Wolves also bring an option attack directed by quarterback Corey Leonard, who is averaging 260 yards of total offense. Leonard and running backs Derek Lawson and Reggie Arnold all rank among the Sun Belt’s top nine rushers.  More…

The blackout in Georgia seemed to have blacked out the TideCast over the last couple of weeks. But thank goodness internet is now up around these parts and we’re ready to go! Comcast is definatly not our friend! Well, after a big win over the the University of Bye, Alabama still remains at the #2 spot in the nation according to AP and USA Today/Coaches poll with Texas leapfrogging from #5 to the #1 spot in the nation.

Join us this week as we talk with Barry Krauss onAlabama’s midseason report card and touch a bit on the upcoming game with the Ole Miss Rebels. Krauss also discusses the firing of Offensive Coordinator Tony Franklin down there on the plains.

Of course Barry Krauss played under coach Bryant, and was a key member of The University of Alabama’s 1978 National Championship Football team. In one of the most famous plays in college football history, Krauss stopped Penn State running back Mike Guman short of the goal line late in the 4th quarter to help the Crimson Tide to the National Championship.

Barry throws out the trivia question this week near the end of the interview. Be the first person to send your answer to rolltide@tidecast.net and win a Bama prize thanks to RedElephants.com - If you live around Decatur be sure to check out the Red Elephants store for Bama merchandise.

Check back later this week for the Ole Miss pregame show!
