SEC Championship Show with Ken Taylor

Guest: Ken Taylor - Former Track Coach @ Nease High School -
As no surprise to Bama fans, the national pundits say Alabama should all but forfeit the upcoming 2008 SEC Championship game this Saturday. I guess they think we’ll get totally dominated just as the likes of LSU, Georgia and others - that’s okay. There is no other position I’d rather THIS undefeated Bama team be than a 10 point underdog. Actually I wish Vegas would just widen the point spread even more!
Before I go into a rant on national media, we’ve got great guest on this weeks show! Ken Taylor is the former track coach @ Nease High School in Ponte Vedra, FL. You know Nease High for where Florida QB Tim Tebow was recruited from, along with Bama LB Charlie Kirschman and WR Will Oakley. Ken has a plethora of insight on this upcoming SEC championship game. Having roots in Florida and Alabama, Ken Helps to cover this game like no other. - We’ll see you in Atlanta! If your going to the game, send us an email: RollTide@tidecast.net
Intro resignation of Tommy Tubberville brought to you by: Jeff Roney of www.roneyzone.com
Co-hosts, Larry and Ben

Length: 43min
Size: 39mb

Former Safety (78-81) Jim Bob Harris joins us this week. Jim Bob was part of the 1978, 1979 championship teams in which Harris will be part of the ‘78 National Championship reunion in Tuscaloosa this Saturday. Harris talks about the importance of beating adversity as a team, the parallels between his ‘78 champ team and this years ‘08 team. Harris also touches on the character of Coach Nick Saban & staff, and of course the upcoming game with Miss. State.
Pressure mounts as #1 Alabama clinches the SEC West and is staged for one of the most important SEC championship games in history, but it’s still payback time for a couple of old foes. One down, two to go - Croom’s (I need more cowbell!) Bulldogs are up next for another “sweet revenge” November game on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. ESPN.
The opening song is brought to you by Jay Speight and former Bama 2004 Captain Todd bates! Check out the creative rap/country remix of “Ala-Freakin’ Bama” @ Alafreakinbama.com!
Have a great week! ROLL FREAKIN’ TIDE!!!

Get more on what the rabid LSU fans are saying down there on the Bayou, make sure to check out Larry’s interview with the guys from the Geaux Show podcast!
Coach Saban has been able to keep this Bama team focused all the way to the No. 1 spot in the BCS rankings. If the streak is to continue, the month of November will be the month of sweet revenge, and it must start with a win in Baton Rouge.
Of course all would agree, this is a totally different Alabama team than last year’s media acclaimed “Saban Bowl” that saw LSU’s come from behind victory (41-34). Even LSU fans this year are feeling a bit down about this match-up, being that the Tigers have given up more than 50 points against the Gators and Dawgs this season. Emotions and expectations will be at its proverbial height in “Death Valley” this Saturday in what will prove to be a down and dirty game. Will LSU fans go off in a drunk’n glee, slopping up gumbo left and right? Or, will Bama fans leave yelling “sweet revenge!” on the road to Atlanta? We’ll know by 6:00pm. - ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!

Well, since we couldn’t seem to get Coach Fulmer on the show this week, we thought whom better to have on as a guest for Vols week than the controversial, opinionated, shiny-top guy himself - Paul Finebaum, who is also a graduate of the University of Tennessee. Paul comments on a plethora of topics about this upcoming rivalry and answers questions from members of RollTideBama.com, such as “Have you ever considered a toupee?” or “Why do you feel Florida should not be in the SEC?”
Make sure to listen all the way to the end of the show, Finebaum throws out the Trivia Question for this week. Be the first person to send the correct answer to rolltide@tidecast.net & you’ll get to chose from one of 3 Crimson Tide hats as shown on the right hand side of the site! Check out the RedElephants store in Decatur, AL - or get your crimson colors from RedElephants.com

Ole Miss pre-game with Stepfon of BamasBall TV
October 16, 2008
Join us this week as we talk it up with Stepfon Lewis of Bama’s Ball TV on Saturday’s match-up against the those Rebels from Mississippi. Be sure to check out Step and his brother Stevon M-F from 6-8pm chat online with the guys LIVE, or watch the recorded episodes (…and yes they are twins).
Ole Miss (and the “Wild Rebel”) will step into Bryant-Denny with all intentions of knocking down the Crimson Tide as they did just a few weeks prior with a one point win against the Gator’s in the swamp. The Tide looks to maintain it’s dominance and focus after a week off as they continue this season in what will prove to be another physical, down and dirty game on CBS, 2:30pm on Saturday.
“They have lost some tough games close,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “They have beaten Florida on the road. So this is a very challenging team for us and a very challenging game for us.” Check out RollTIdeBama’s pre-season capsule on Ole Miss at Alabama!
On last weeks match-up between the Sooners and the Longhorns, Alabama junior defensive end Lorenzo Washington had this to say: “I bet you a couple of people on (Oklahoma) were definitely looking past Texas, and look at what happened to them, you can’t look past anybody in any conference in college football today because you can be beat.”
Questions for Paul Finebaum. We’ll be talking with Paul this coming Monday the 20th for the Vols pre-game. If you have any questions or comments for Finebaum, send them to rolltide@tidecast.net.
Have a great weekend - ROLL TIDE!

RTB Kentucky Review: Perception Isn’t Always Reality.
October 6, 2008
By TerryP
“Perception is reality.”
I’m sure everyone reading this has heard the phrase, the majority here have probably used it on more than one occasion.
I’m sure there are a lot here that don’t believe what is perceived is reality. But, “perception is a reality, in the sense that it’s something we have to deal with. But perception isn’t reality itself. In fact, perception is often demonstrably false.” “Perception is reality” is usually just a clumsy but short way of saying that people do not react to reality, they react to their perception of it.
Let’s consider…
Three turnovers allowed the opposition to stay in the game when in reality they should have been put away very early.
Their Quarterback had a good night, completing right at 50% of his passes gaining right at 300 yards in offense including a touchdown.
Their rushing attack was a minimal threat accounting for around 25% of their total offensive production.
The odds on favorite to win the game were held far below their average in terms of points scored and allowed more points scored against them on average as well.
This isn’t Alabama football.
No, seriously, this isn’t Alabama football I’m talking about here. In fact, it is a brief recap of what happened when Florida lost to Ole Miss just 8 days ago.
What is the difference? While Alabama comes out with a win to start the season at 6-0 Florida dropped yet another game against the Rebels.
A win folks. Read more…
