The Cuban Collegiate All-Stars used a three-run third inning to defeat the University of Alabama baseball team, 6-2, in game two of the 2008 Friendship Tournament at Latin American Stadium Wednesday afternoon in Havana, Cuba. Center fielder Yoennis Cespedes delivered the big blow with a two-run double in the third inning.

The University of Alabama baseball team makes a historic trip to Havana, Cuba, for a three-game exhibition series with the Cuban Collegiate All-Stars this week. The team departs Sunday, Dec. 14 from Tuscaloosa and will return on Friday, Dec. 19. The Crimson Tide will play three exhibition games at the Latin American Stadium in Havana on Tuesday, Dec. 16, Wednesday, Dec. 17, and Thursday, Dec. 18. All three games will begin at 2 p.m. (CST - 3 p.m. in Havana) each day.

The University of Alabama baseball announced the signing of 11 student-athletes in the Nov. 12-19, 2009 early signing period, Crimson Tide head coach Jim Wells announced today. The signing class will enroll at UA in August, 2009 and first compete for the Tide during the 2010 season. All nine high school players are rated in the Top 500 by Perfect Game Crosschecker, which is the national rating system for prep all-stars.
