For a die-hard fan, the college football offseason is the hardest time of the year. The only thing that can hold them off is spring practice. If you're a true fan, you look at the upcoming schedule and breakdown each game.

The time has come where I cannot wait any longer so I am going to break down each regular season game. I will rate it on a level of difficulty and description of the game. It will be based on a scale of 1-10.

Game 1: San Jose State / Level of Difficulty: 2

San Jose State broke my record for lowest level of difficulty. I never believed of rating someone below three ever since Louisiana-Monroe upset Alabama in 2007.

I had no choice, with San Jose State coming off a 2-10 season and after firing former coach Dick Tomey, it would be impossible for San Jose State to upset the defending national champion.

On top of all this, it will be the grand opening of Alabama's newly expanded stadium which is going to make the stadium even louder. Alabama will win this game with ease.

Game 2: Penn State / Level of Difficulty: 7.5

Some people would think this game deserves a higher rating. Well, I can see where those people are coming from. It is the first real test for Alabama.

Penn State plays harder and harder every year because they know Joe Paterno will not be there much longer. This game will be sold out and one of the loudest games a fan can hear.

Penn State fans and Alabama fans are the most dedicated fans in the country, so the crowd will be a factor. Alabama will trail early, get ahead before halftime, and make the game out of reach in the fourth quarter.

Game 3: Duke / Level of Difficulty: 6

Now some people would disagree with this rating because of the football background Duke has had. Duke has always been a basketball college.

This year it is going to be a different story. Duke is coming off a 5-7 season with a very good coach in David Cutcliffe. Duke is going to be one of those Cinderella stories this year, and Alabama is playing at Duke.

Duke is going to give it all they got and make it tough the whole game. Alabama will pull the game out by the end of the third quarter.

Game 4: Arkansas / Level of Difficulty: 7 1/2

Alabama kicks off SEC play with Arkansas. There are two people that put Arkansas this high in the ratings. Those two people are Bobby Petrino and Ryan Mallet. Mallet is a potential Heisman candidate and Arkansas wants Alabama bad.

Since Alabama is the defending national champion, every team is going to give all they got to upset Alabama.

Arkansas is one of the main contenders for the SEC West, and for the first time in three years, the Alabama vs. LSU game will not be the decider for who goes to the SEC Championship.

This game will decide who will win the SEC West. Alabama will win with a late touchdown or field goal.

Game 5: Florida / Level of Difficulty: 9

Florida also broke a record in my level of difficulty list. This is the highest I have ranked a team in any list I have ever made. I did this because this game is going to be pure passion because Florida wants payback.

Florida wants Alabama so bad that they might actually be the underdog in the game. I know Florida has a new quarterback in John Brantley, but John Brantley is a very talented quarterback.

The game will go back and forth. In the end Alabama will pull away a slim victory.

Game 6: South Carolina / Level of Difficulty: 7

Last year's game was very special for the Alabama nation. Not only was it one of the closest games all season, it was also Mark Ingram's breakout game. South Carolina, like Florida, wants revenge.

They are going to put up their best game of the season as well as every other team will.

This is going to be the game that decides if Alabama can stay undefeated the whole season. It is going to be a tough fight, but like many other games Alabama will be victorious when the clock hits zero.

Game 7: Ole Miss / Level of Difficulty: 5.5

Ole Miss was suppose to be one of the top teams in the country this past year. Unfortunately they showed the country they were just a bust. Ole Miss is still going to be a competitive team because of the coaching skills of Houston Nutt.

Ole Miss, I believe, will actually jump ahead early. At the beginning of the second quarter, Alabama will start to make the game out of reach. I also have a feeling Mark Ingram will have one of his best games of the season against Ole Miss.

Game 8: Tennessee / Level Of Difficulty: 5

Even though the game is at Tennessee, I think that new head coach Derek Dooley will have troubles during his first season.

He will do fine in his later seasons, not in his first season unfortunately. Alabama will jump out early which will bring Tennessee's confidence down.

With no good motivator, Tennessee will not be able to catch back up and Alabama will win.

Game 9: LSU / Level of Difficulty: 8

I predicted Arkansas to finish higher in the SEC west standings than LSU would. Yet I believe LSU will be a tougher game than Arkansas.

For two years in a row, Alabama has beaten LSU to win the SEC West. On top of that, Nick Saban used to be the head coach of LSU. This brings bad blood between the two teams.

This will also most likely be a night game in Tiger Stadium. Just that makes the game tough enough. LSU and Alabama will stay neck and neck until Alabama pulls it out in the end.

Game 10: Mississippi State / Level of Difficulty: 6.5

This will be the season Dan Mullen shows he has what it takes to be a head coach. It will not be his best season considering he still has to find the players he wants to fill in the gaps in his spread offense.

He will try to throw trickery at Alabama. The stingy defense of Alabama will stop whatever Mississippi State throws at Alabama. Alabama will get ahead and stay ahead the whole game.

Game 11: Georgia State / Level of Difficulty: 2.5

I know it seems unfair to put a higher ranking on Georgia State than on San Jose State. I just feel like this game will be more interesting because we will see our second string play this game.

It is hard to predict a score because it all depends on when Nick Saban puts his second string in.

Game 12: Auburn / Level of Difficulty: 7

Auburn is the hardest game to predict because I do not believe there is a person out there who can predict the outcome to a Iron Bowl game.

The outcome will be Alabama on top. I think this simply because Gene Chizik is going to crack and show the coaching side he showed at Iowa State.

It looks like Tommy Tuberville has decided to take on Nick Saban once again—only this time, Tuberville will be the head coach of a different team.

According to ESPN.com, Alabama and Texas Tech discussed playing a game at a mutual site. The mutual site they agreed upon is Dallas Cowboys Stadium.

So, this game sounds pretty exciting, right? Well, do not get too excited yet.

Texas Tech athletic director Gerald Myers told the n that the school had agreed to it. He also said he thinks Alabama has agreed to it.

He also stated that a contract has not been signed yet.

Saban told ESPN's Chris Low that Alabama has not agreed to it.

"We have a lot of options for 2012. We're in the process of weighing them. That's one of them," Saban said.

Despite this, Myers also stated that Saban and Tuberville were on board with the game.

So really, both sides have been back-and-forth with the decision.

If Alabama is smart, it would agree to this game. I still believe the Tide will play.

Alabama has had a tendency to start out its seasons with interesting games such as this one. During the past two years, the Tide have opened the season against tough ACC opponents in the Georgia Dome.

They will not open the 2010 season with what you would consider an interesting game, but Alabama still found a way to catch people's attention by having the second home game against Penn State.

Now if this game were to actually happen, it would be much more interesting than people think. Just think about it: Saban was the last coach Tuberville lost to before he got fired at Auburn.

There would be much raw emotion for Tuberville in this game. The game being played in Dallas Cowboys Stadium is just icing on the cake.

I believe a contract game will be drawn up and signed soon because of the level of interest it has attracted from fans—even though fans know it is not official yet.

As spring moves forward, more and more interesting things happen in the world of sports.

It depends on what kind of fan you are. Whether you find the Final Four, preseason baseball, or WrestleMania more exciting, something excites you.

To all the diehard college football fans, spring practice for their teams is the most exciting.

Now if you're an Alabama fan, your head is probably spinning. Whether it's the excitement of the national title or wondering if Star Jackson will return, you have something to think about.

Now there have been rumors, and these rumors will beat anything you have found interesting this spring.

According to rumor insider, as well as websites such as bamapride.com and secfanatics.com, Nick Saban is in the process of practicing wide receiver Julio Jones at safety.

Now at first you think this could not be possible, but in today's time you are seeing more people switch positions. Saban has already tried Brandon Gibson and Kendall Kelly at cornerback when they were recruited at wide receiver.

Now according to secfanatics.com, Saban stated that he would play Jones on both sides of the ball. Now this is not the first time Saban has done this. When Saban was the head coach of LSU, he played Michael Clayton at wide receiver and 25 plays on defense. Clayton played both sides of the ball mostly during the Cotton Bowl.

So would this work out? Julio Jones playing both sides of the ball I honestly do not believe would be the best idea. Jones is the best receiver Alabama has had in a long time, and to risk getting him injured playing on defense as well as offense is just too risky. Now if he can play and stay tough, play him on both sides.

Now some reporters have already asked the question of whether this would affect his future career in the NFL. If this were to happen, it would not hurt his chances in the NFL. Charles Woodson played defense and in some situations played a slot receiver. So to answer that question, if Julio Jones was to play both sides, it would not hurt his chances in the NFL.

Another question that was asked by reporters was if this would increase the chances of Jones getting injured. When asked, Saban remarked, "We put the guy on kickoff return, you say he might get hurt. He might get hurt playing receiver too. I ain't worried about that. ... The goal is not to move anybody to defense. It's to make sure that we come out of the spring knowing that we have another guy on our team that could play safety if we need him to play."

So basically if Julio Jones does play safety, it would be in a Michael Clayton situation. He most likely would not start on defense unless an emergency occurred. Despite all this, Jones needs to stay at wide receiver and not leave there. He is big and physical, but I do not think he was meant to be a safety. I mean it would be a fun experiment; otherwise Jones needs to stay a wide receiver.

So will Julio Jones play at the safety position at all this season? It depends on how he performs in the spring and how well he can impress Nick Saban. If he does impress, will he play at the safety position some during the A-Day game? Well, the A-Day game is meant to test out players.

I have decided to break down each team in the SEC, starting with the West and then working my way down to the East.

I will start off with Alabama.

Alabama had one of the biggest surprises of the year just by going undefeated in the regular season. That proved that Nick Saban is capable of doing any thing if he's just given the time. In that case though, he only needed two years.

So, will Alabama be as successful as they were in the 2008 season or will they have to wait another year to be successful?

Alabama is going to have a rough time on offense. This is very tough for me to say simply because it sounds like I am not giving Greg McElroy enough credit.

I believe he will do great things at Alabama, but it might take him a year to do it. We should not be terrible—I mean you have stars like Julio Jones, Mark Ingram, Mike McCoy, and Roy Upchurch.

Do not get me wrong; I am not just saying that we might not be as successful on offense just because of our new quarterback. We also have many things to worry about on the offensive line.

It is extremely hard to replace people like Andre Smith, Antoine Caldwell, Marlon Davis, Nick Walker, and Travis McCall. It will take some time to see how well we will do with the offense we have now, but we will surprise some teams.

On the defensive side of the ball, we are basically loaded. We have almost every one of our starters returning, including All-SEC linebacker Rolando McClain. The few players we did lose on defense are being replaced by some very talented guys such as Lorenzo Washington.

We will be very successful on defense and probably will have one of the best in the nation. So let this be an early warning for all teams that are playing Alabama this year—get ready for the defense to come at you.

On special teams, we will be the same as last year, despite Leigh Tiffin getting assaulted. P.J. Fitzgerald is not the best punter, but I think he will be good enough to get us through the season without messing up.

So, here is my first breakdown of an SEC team. There will be more to come, and I hope you enjoy.

There were jokes that something like this would happen to Leigh Tiffin, after he missed all those field goals against Arkansas in 2006. No one thought it would actually happen, but it did. Why would someone want to assault the son of legendary Alabama kicker Van Tiffin?

According to the Tuscaloosa police department, Tiffin was assaulted in downtown Tuscaloosa on Wednesday. According to witness reports, he was walking down the street when he was assaulted by at least two people. The witness called 911 and Tiffin was admitted into the hospital at 2 a.m.

Now before I discuss this issue, don't worry, all injuries were minor. The injuries were to his right hand, right leg, and both his feet. He is no longer in the hospital and is expected to recover from the injuries.

So, why would anyone want to assault him? Was it Alabama fans that were possibly under the influence and did it for the fun of it? Was it Auburn fans doing it to try to get "respect" from other Auburn fans? Or was it just thieves trying to get money from Tiffin?

Well, I will go ahead and knock the last option because according to police reports, nothing was taken from him at the time of the assault. So, was it a crazed, drunken Alabama fan just assaulting him as revenge for all the critical field goals he has missed?

Well, I believe that this is a possibility, but if this was the case, most likely, the fans were under the influence. I would also like to say that if this is the case, the fans that did it need to realize that assaulting Tiffin is not going to help him be a better kicker.

Also, for anyone that does ever get mad at Tiffin, just do what I do and remember all the good field goals he made and everything his dad did at Alabama.

So, was it an Auburn or Tennessee fan trying to assault Tiffin just to feel like a "hero" to other fans? Well, if this is the case then that was a pretty low thing to do—even though I do not believe this was the case, considering that assault took place in downtown Tuscaloosa.

So, what was the case in this terrible assault? I guess no one will know until the Tuscaloosa police department catches the assaulter.

I know one thing for sure—this was intentional. It's pretty weird for a kicker to get assaulted, and the injuries are sustained to his feet and kicking leg.

I would now like to ask everyone to please keep the Tiffin family in your thoughts and prayers. It must be really scary knowing that someone is trying to hurt your son. So once again, keep them in your thoughts and prayers, and let's hope that Leigh can bounce back and have a great year for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

After watching Alabama's spring game, I noticed something. I noticed that there were players who hardly played last year making an impact at A-Day.

These players didn't look like they had just stepped up to the plate, instead they acted like they had been playing first string their whole career.

I have decided to choose five players who I believe will be a surprise at Alabama, despite never starting as freshmen or sophomores.

These players, I believe, will prove that there is always a player worth starting.

5. Earl Alexander, WR

Earl Alexander has had his moments in the sun while playing for Alabama. He has gotten to play some, but anytime he got to play they never threw him the ball.

He is a big, physical wide receiver who can make plays. He might not be the fastest guy on the field, but if you ask any wide receiver in the NFL, they will tell you it is about technique, not speed.

4. Lorenzo Washington, DL

Lorenzo Washington has gotten to play his share of games during his tenure at Alabama. He impressed me in several games that he got to play in, yet he has not been able to play as much because Bobby Greenwood was starting ahead of him last season.

Bobby Greenwood graduated, and Lorenzo Washington is a strong, physical defensive lineman that is not afraid to get in the game and make a play. He should not really be a surprise, but he should show us how good he is for the first time by starting.

3. Ali Sharrief, DB

Ali Sharrief has gotten to play very few games in his tenure at Alabama because Rashad Johnson always beat him out for the spot. Now Rashad Johnson is gone, so Ali Sharrief has stepped up to the spot.

He looked pretty good at A-Day, but I believe he will be a surprise at Alabama. He won't make an immediate impact, but about the second or third game of the season he will start making an impact.

2. Brian Motley, OL

Brian Motley has not been able to play much in his career at Alabama, except on special teams. Yet, the Brian Motley I saw at A-Day really impressed me. He had some great blocks during the game.

I think he will make a huge impact during the 2009 season. He will finally get his chance to prove that he is just as good as any other linemen.

1. Marquis Maze, WR

Marquis Maze impressed me more than anyone at A-Day. Whether it was his speed or technique, he was impressive. I think everyone best knows him as the guy Greg McElroy threw his first touchdown pass to during the Iron Bowl.

I think he will get to play a lot at wide receiver, and I also believe they will put him at running back during certain plays. He will be the biggest surprise for Alabama during the 2009 season.

I think all these players will be a surprise at Alabama. They will prove that all players in the NCAA have a chance to start if they keep trying their hardest.

The game that so many fans anticipated started out with some rain drops, but is that going to stop Alabama fans from coming to the spring game? I think not.

The 84,500 fans that were there all saw something special from the get go. They got to see former players in a flag football game before the game started, and one of those players was Tyrone Prothro.

I was very impressed with Prothro's speed after recovering from a badly broken ankle.

Besides seeing Tyrone Prothro in action again, I saw some things I liked and didn't like at the A-Day game.

One of the first things I noticed at the game was the secondary. We were extremely weak in that area which doesn't look good when the rest of the defense looks good.

Kareem Jackson hasn't looked too good since the 2007 Tennessee game, and Justin Woodall did OK. Those are the two players I am referring to when I say that the secondary didn't look to good.

If Nick Saban wants his defense to be indestructible, he needs to be working on his secondary, and soon.

On the offensive side of the ball, I was quite impressed with the tight ends, despite the fact that they are first-year starters. They really impressed me with all the catches they had.

Quaterback Greg McElroy was also pretty good, considering he was 16-for-30 for 189 yards and two touchdowns. The only thing I believe McElroy needs to work on is his accuracy under pressure. When someone like Rolando Mcclain or Dont'a Hightower pressured him, his throws were not accurate and the receivers would miss the ball.

I think that this can improved by the time the team kicks off the season against Virginia Tech.

The receivers, however, were impressive, considering that one of them is Julio Jones.

I didn't focus on the offensive tackle spot too much because I still believe that DJ Fluker will start at that position as a freshmen. However, the rest of the offensive line looked pretty good. They had some really good blocks, especially Brian Motley, who I felt did a great job blocking Terrence Cody.

Running back Terry Grant got the start because Mark Ingram and Roy Upchurch are battling injuries, but Grant wasn't too impressive. I think Grant will never have a season like he did in 2007.

Like offensive tackle, it looks like I am going to have to wait to the season opener to watch running backs like Mark Ingram, Roy Upchurch, and Trent Richardson in action.

On the second string offense, I was quite upset that they didn't play QB Star Jackson too much. He played some, but not enough for me to comment on his accuracy, strength, and throws under pressure.

On the second string, the player that impressed me the most was Marquis Maze.

Almost every pass thrown to him by the second string QB was caught. I know he will get to play a lot during the season, but I believe he should start. I know he is not tall, but he is quick and has quick feet. I also think they should put him at running back during certain plays.

On the defensive side on the ball, like I said earlier, the secondary really upset me. They were not covering well at all.

Our linebackers, meanwhile, looked exceptionally talented. Rolando Mcclain put it to his offensive tackling target, and Dont'a Hightower had the power to break through the line and pressure the quarterback. Cory Reamer surprisingly wasn't that bad.

I will say that, out of the whole secondary, Javier Arenas had some great coverage, but also had his bad times. I just try to remember that, if Javier Arenas intercepts the ball, he is gone.

Our defensive line looked strong, but simply because they are being led by Terrence Cody.

On special teams, I am proud to say that P.J. Fitzgerald did not have that bad of a game. Leigh Tiffin was inconsistent on some of his field goals, but he wasn't that bad either.

Javier Arenas and Julio Jones led the special teams' effort, but that isn't too much of a shock.

So, there were good things and bad things that I noticed at A-Day. There were strengths and weaknesses that we need to work on, but other than that, I think that A-Day was quite successful and I hope that ESPN will be back next year.

The time is getting closer for the A-Day game, which means more than just watching the players or getting some of the delicious Dreamland BBQ. It means it is time for Alabama to pick the captains for the 2009 football season. This is a very important thing in Alabama football, simply because the captain is the leader of the team. Usually they pick the captains and the day before A-Day, they put their hand prints and footprints around Denny Chimes.

I am not sure who the captains will be for the 2009 season, but I would like to reflect on last year's captains and what impact they had on Alabama. If you do not already know, the 2008 captains for Alabama were John Parker Wilson, Antoine Caldwell, and Rashad Johnson. I will explain what kind of impact they had on Alabama.

I will start first with John Parker Wilson. I have heard many Alabama fans themselves say that they could not wait for John Parker to leave. I think that he might have not of been the most famous quarterback in Alabama football history, but he has written his name in the record books quite a few times. I think that his 6,796 career yards also make people think of him as a good quarterback. Hew was more than just a quarterback though, he was a leader. He might have had his bad times in his career, but doesn't every quarterback have at least one time in their career. I'll give a perfect example: Peyton Manning, a great quarterback for the Colts and considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of this generation. Yet I seem to remember one of the first games of the 2007 season, where Manning threw four interceptions and only had 88 passing yards. If you look at any highlights in John Parker's career, you see that he never gave up and always encouraged his teammates in the huddle. So I think that we need to give a salute to John Parker Wilson for his leadership throughout his career.

Next is Antione Caldwell. Antione is arguably one of the best centers Alabama has ever had. Not only was he a good center, but he is also recognized because he was one of the best players out of Alabama's great 2008 offensive line. Some would say Andre Smith was the best, which honestly I think he was, but Antione is working harder than Smith is in the draft right now. I was told that Caldwell wasn't a good captain because of his influence on the players after his suspension. Yet I disagree because he was a great leader and was a good influence on the team. Despite his suspension, he was a good influence by graduating earlier than anyone else, and influenced other players to try there hardest. So this is why I believe we should give Antione Caldwell a salute for his leadership as a captain and his great leadership and influence on the team.

Next is Rashad Johnson. I personally like Rashad Johnson because he was a walk-on who started and became captain of a great football team with a rich tradition. He has had many memorable moments and led Alabama's defense to many successful games. He never got in trouble, had good grades, and showed that anybody can make an impact if they just try hard and never give up. He has always been a guy that encourages players in the huddle. This is why I think we need to give a salute to Rashad Johnson for all his hard work.

Yes, I know that all these captains had the same qualities that made them great players and momentum changers. Yet these ARE all the reasons that made them this way. All of these captains had great careers at Alabama. So I wrote this to salute them and thank them for encouraging all the other players to work hard because they worked hard. Feel free to comment on this piece.

When Tim Tebow was coming out of Neis High School in Florida, he was recruited by some of the top colleges in the nation. He narrowed it down to two schools: Alabama and Florida. Both schools would have given anything to get him. Unfortunately for Alabama fans, Florida got him.

I have now personally seen the things Tim Tebow can do on a football field. Every time I see him play, the one and only thing that runs through my mind is: where would Alabama be if they would have signed Tim Tebow? Another thing in the back in my mind is: how come he didn't sign with Alabama?

The first question I am going to try to answer is why he didn't sign with Alabama. Tim Tebow loved both Urban Meyer and Mike Shula (who was the coach at that time), which made it a difficult decision for Tebow. At that time, I thought Tim Tebow was going to choose Alabama after the fans cheered his name at a game in October of 2006. I thought it was unanimous after Mike Shula spent 12 hours at Tebow's farm in Jacksonville, Florida. Yet Tim Tebow still chose the Gators over the Tide. Tebow said he chose the Gators because he wanted to stay close to his family. Tebow also said that he has always been a big fan of the Gators. So even though he has the usual reasons someone has when they decide to choose their home state school, I think that Tebow wasn't smart in his decision to choose the Gators. Alabama fans would have basically done anything he wanted, and Mike Shula spent more time on him than on any other recruit he had.

So the next question is where Alabama would be if it would have signed Tim Tebow. I honestly think that if Tim Tebow would have signed, Mike Shula would still be at Alabama. I know that one person isn't a whole team, but Tim Tebow is more than an athlete; he is a leader. Tim Tebow has amazing stats that might have won us a few more games under Shula, which might have caused the University of Alabama not to fire him. Another thing that that might have changed is the type of offense we would have run. If Alabama was smart, they would have ran a type of offense that would let Tebow go wild.

Despite the fact that Tim Tebow didn't sign with Alabama, I think that it was a win for Nick Saban to come to Alabama. Look where we are now: we've got a coach who can win all his regular season games in only his second year at the capstone. So even if you disagree with me, I would rather have Nick Saban than Tim Tebow.

Alright, so here is my article... feel free to comment.

Here we go again. Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban is still not pleased with Alabama's progress in spring practice. After Alabama's fifth spring practice, Saban still seemed not happy.

Now you might have not read my other article about Saban being angry at his team. If you haven't, go to my profile and read: "Nick Saban Goes on Tirade: Can anyone blame him though?"

Now we all know that Saban is a fantastic coach, and out of all the candidates Alabama had during their time of not having a coach, I wouldn't have wanted anybody more than him. We also know that he has an extremely short fuse.

Like I discussed in my last article, I believe that Saban had every right to be upset at his players. In this article though, I will be discussing what causes him to get upset at his team.

The top thing that I think his causing his anger is stress. When your a coach at the University of Alabama, you are compared to Bear Bryant, so he is trying to be the best coach he can be. So far, I think that he is doing pretty good, but that's not the point.

He is also stressed because he has holes to fill on the offensive line.

While he tries to find the best candidate, it is hard to scout and correct everything else. Yes, I know that is what assistant coaches are for, but he is the main person that has a say in it.

Saban has to try and find leadership and chemistry in his team, which also can be very stressful. So is it stress that is causing Saban's anger towards his team.

Another thing that can cause anger in a coach like Saban, is the fact that his players are just slacking off.

So what is it, stress, players slacking off, or both?

If you want to know my opinion, I think it is both, but mainly stress.

So will Saban's anger continue?

Will he find leadership in his team?

Can he handle the stress of being the University of Alabama's head coach?

All these questions will have to be answered after a little more close watching by the fans.

So here is my article, I know that this is a short and sweet article, but I just think that when it comes to a topic like this, there is not much to say without answering everything. So feel free to leave comments and tell me what you think.
